Dipylidium caninum egg packet. These contain 2 - 63 embryonated eggs (av 15 - 25) each egg is spherical 35 - 60 microns wide and contains a hexacanth (oncosphere) 20 - 30 microns wide. Ctenocephalides felis felis are the intermediate hosts. Flea larvae are infected by eating the eggs in the egg capsules passed from the intestine.
